DR MADAN KATARIA
Dr. Madan Kataria is the founder of the Laughter Yoga movement. A qualified
physician, he has practiced in Bombay for the past 15 years. He is a former
registrar of Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Bombay in Internal Medicine
and Cardiology.
Dubbed the Guru of Giggling by the London Times, Dr. Kataria’s
initial laughter club in Bombay has given way to over 1200 Laughter Clubs
in India, USA, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark,
Italy, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai.
Dr. Kataria is a corporate consultant for Holistic Health and Stress Management
to a number of national and multinational companies including: Hewlett
Packard; SAS Airlines; Volvo; Western Australian Parliament, Emirates
Bank and Emirates Airlines, and GlaxoSmithkline.
He is author of Laugh For No Reason, the family health guide
Self- Medication,
How Useful, How Harmful? and is a regular guest on television
and radio.
Laughter Yoga has been the subject of features in worldwide publications
such as National Geographic, Time Magazine, The
Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times and The Daily
Telegraph. It has also been reported on by the BBC, CNN,
NHK (Japan), ABC news (USA) and other television networks
around the world. In 1999 the film director Mira Nair made a film on "Laughter
Clubs of India"
